Balea Lake
The tourist zone Balea Lake is situated in Fagaras Mountains (an important part of the Carpathians’ chain). The area is well-known as the densest water network in the country (glacial lakes: Avrig 2011m, Caltun 2147m, Doamnei 1865m, Balea 2034m, etc.). The waters from this massif, in the zone of Sibiu, form a series of waterfalls: Moasei Waterfall, Avrigului Waterfall, Serbotei Waterfall, Balea Waterfall. Access to the Balea Lake is made easier by the road passing through Fagaras Mountains, named “transfagarasan” and asphalted completely.The Fagaras Massif is constituted from a main ridge with East-West direction and in winter accessible only from Sibiu to Balea Waterfall.... details

The ice hotel „Ice Balea Lake” offers 8 double rooms (16 places). The rooms are equipped with matrimonial bed from ice, covered by lamb fur, table and chairs from ice too and the lighting will be guaranteed by lamps. The inside temperature alternates between -2° and +2° (deppend of the number of persons in inside). Other facilities: day bar and reception. Balea Lake Chalet is situated at 2034 m altitude, on the peninsula which reaches into Balea glaciar lake, being surrounded from 3 sides by water. The present chalet is built (2000) on the old chalet (1904- which was burned completely in 1995) and is situated on three levels. The rooms (double rooms, 4-6 person occupancy rooms, 10 person occupancy rooms and suite) are situated on 1. and 2. levels and are equipped with private bathroom, pinewood and oakwood furniture, with a view towards the surrounding landscape.
